We have 3 Irish Terriers (as well as our IWS) - we find them the ideal family pet.  Ours get on fine with our stock and free range chickens / ducks.  Provided they have adequate socialisation they are excellent with children, people and other dogs, although it is true they will respond if provoked by another dog.

They are medium sized easy dogs and they have no known health problems other than hyperkeratosis - cracked pads - which is very rare - the KC ABS does not have any health test requirements for breeders (we are members of the KCABS).  They are also a vulernable native breed (as too are clumber spaniels, IWS's and Smooth Collies)

Hi All
With regard to the comments on the clumbers, that is the reason why i mentioned the working clumber society, it shows all the tests that registered clumbers have had done and they only breed accordingly.
I think when you read through the breed information all dogs have some sort of problems. No doubt people will be on their high horse telling me something different. Research into the breed and breeder is the only way ahead.
