Hi everyone , I was wondering if is necessary to disinfect eggs before putting them into an incubator ? If so what would you use to clean the eggs ? I have read different views on this and am interested to know what you would suggest , many thanks ,

PERSONALLY WE NEVER CLEAN THE EGGS WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN A WIPE OVER WITH A DRY PAPER TOWEL IF MUCKY WHEN COLLECTED TO THEN GO IN INCUBATER

And I do clean eggs, under the tap, a little bit warmer than the egg/room.

hi we clean out turkey eggs before going in the incubator.......
water has to be warmer than egg to stop bugs going in

If the eggs are really dirty I put them in warm water for 30 seconds then wetwipe off the poo. I have a 6 the incy that were filthy, they are all fertile but it's only day 9.

I use a solution of proprietry egg sanitising powder in warm water.

Update: on the 6 eggs I washed.
4 chicks, 1 early stage dead, 1 underdeveloped took out on day 18.

These 6 eggs where filthy but I have 4 lovely little chickie's. Strangely though the rest of the incy (24 eggs total, 18 that I didn't wash) have been a disaster. Only have 3 other chicks.
