Expectant Mums
« on: February 11, 2009, 07:15:44 pm »
I'm sitting here with the baby intercom on (it works a treat) listening to my expectant Mums in the barn. The old dear has had me at it all day. She has milk, lovely pink udders, her back has hollowed out where everything has nearly hit the floor where she has dropped so much today. We did not put her to the ram last season as she had triplets that year. When do you ask is her due date? 25th Feb. We put her with our new prize winning ram lamb along with one other older ewe and two first timers hoping he would do his business and it looks like he has.
I just wish she would stop gnashing her teeth as it is getting a bit grating now. It's the OH's turn on night duty for the next three nights. I lambed the first ewe lamb with one leg back on Sunday and this old ewes first lamb last time came out tail first, an interesting sight. It should be an interesting night. ::) ::)

Shes still got her legs crossed this evening. I told her if she had them when it's my turn for night duty she'll make a good mutton chop. ::)

One of my litters was born on Friday 13th - normal size for my breed is about 6 or 7.  Every time I spoke to my vet another puppy appeared - I refused to speak to him after 9, and another two appeared after that.  Ceilidh fed and tended to every one of them with no help except extra vitamins recommended by my vet  ;D ;D ;D
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I'm going to give here a good talking to tomorrow if she doesn't lamb duing the day as I have got more due now at any minute and I'm sure she will start as soon as one of the others does just so she will have some company. :sheep: :sheep: :farmer: :farmer:

if you reckon she's not due until the 25th i'd be hoping she hangs on to them for another week!

She's still hanging on at moment, so hopefully she'll go to full term. Just keeping an eye on her.

Well the old dear finally lambed today along with 4 other ewes more or less at the same time.
She has had twins, one of each and I must say that they are probably the most stunning I have bred to date. :sheep: :sheep: I knew I could rely on her. Will probably think about showing this pair if they are as promising as they look at the moment. :) ;)
