Floaters

Does anyone know if dogs get floaters in their eyes?  Meg, my 13 year old springer, keeps moving her head and snapping as though she is trying to get a fly, but as far as I can see there are no flies around.  I just wondered that if dogs get floaters they might think there is a permanent fly around.

I would think all animals could get them. I'm always trying to get mine to stay still so I can have a proper look! ::)

it is impossible to view floaters with the naked eye specialised viewing equipment is required and it is a bugger to have it done (you try keeping your eye open and a forking great light shining in it)
what you describe your dog doing is exactly what the symptoms are in humans (like a column of midges)
you can get treatment for it but it leaves you with a blind spot
it is quite incredible to see the photos after and just what the inside of the eye looks like :farmer:

They do improve on their own - I used to have loads and now am not troubled by them (except when trying to spot singing skylarks!)  I've no idea what makes them worse or better, sorry.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Thanks everyone.  That's probably what she has then.  One of her eyes is going cloudy too which is affecting her peripheral vision slightly so I bet there's all sorts going on in her eye poor thing. :(
