Make friends with a thatcher!
« on: June 26, 2011, 10:53:58 pm »
Just thought I'd pass on a handy tip - make friends with a thatcher! My wfe was chatting to one of our friends who is a thatcher and talking about the new farm, when he revealed that they take masses of old chicken wire off of the thatches they are doing and basically chuck it away. I've just been down and collected a pickup truck full which was all in good nick and will finish off a couple of runs that I'd got stalled on, waiting for funds to arrive to buy more mesh - will never have to do that again now!

The wee pub in Carnwath used to be thatched - they got it re-done beautifully but it burnt down  :o  Used to be a lot of heather thatch up here.
