Portland sheep in Scotland

We're thinking of buying in some Portland sheep. Does anyone have experience of keeping them in Scotland or the North of England? How hardy are they? Our land is in a sheltered river valley but it gets damn cold: -18 the last 2 winters and 3 feet of snow!
