6yo Highland pony gelding
« on: June 08, 2011, 07:50:48 pm »

6yo yellow dun fully registered Highland gelding, homebred, backed up near Aberfeldy last year and retained on loan with a view to buy as the rider backing him for me fell for his fun character and huge potential, and enjoyed a range of activities from a couple of introductory in hand shows to gatecrashing a PC training day.  Without access to an arena or regular transport, he has mostly been hacked out at all paces and brought on steadily with his education, including learning to collect, cross water, do gates, go forward confidently in light traffic, have dogs around him, pop over logs and much more.  Sadly due to work commitments (as a vet!) his loaner hasn't time to continue with him so the loan expires in July 2011 (tho available immediately) and sadly this lovely boy is now for sale to an experienced ridden home where his potential can be further developed.

Braigheach is half brother to my stallion and has excellent conformation, paces and temperament.  He is very bright and might take a loan of a novice handler/rider as he has a sense of humour and will try it on occasionally, but there is nothing nasty about him at all and he knows when someone is capable!  Though I haven't ridden for several years I was tempted to have a brief hack on him recently and enjoyed his active walk and trot, even risked and thoroughly loved a couple of lovely canters despite being headed for home and on open land as his brakes are immaculate.  I really don't have the health or access to facilities or hacking to go back to riding so want a genuine and appreciative home for Brai rather than bring him home to be wasted in a field with youngstock and retired broodmares.

I am told he remains good for routine farrier and vet visits, is easy to handle, used to dogs about him, has been clipped once, travelled a few times, and lives out rugged or unrugged depending on the workload/need for clipping.  He can be tried and further questions clarified at his loan home near Aberfeldy, Perthshire by arrangement.

Related stock, further photos etc can be seen at http://kirkcarrion.webs.com or contact kirkcarrion@hotmail com or pm ellied on here.  Other ponies also available for sale ages 2-9.

I haven't had a stick to him as he's been on loan since being backed over a year ago, but between 14'1-14'2.

He's advertised on HPS sales list at £3500 and worth it but I would accept £3000 at this point to the right person as I'm up to my ears in costs and don't want to pay to bring him home and overcrowd my land even more..

If this is too much for someone there's a 4yo black/brown gelding of similar size, only brought into work in February but coming on really well and he's advertised for £3000 but I'd take £2500 to the right home.

And I've 2 mares who were backed and hacked out but been out of work since November and standing in an overcrowded field - advertised at £2500 each but would take £2000 for one (9yo, mild sweet itch in certain forest-side land but not here) and £2300 for the other (4yo forward going independent hack but low mileage under saddle).  I'd also breed the 4yo if the rest were sold so am not particularly desperate about her going, just about something going and quite soon!

I also have 3x3yo's ready to back which I can't manage to do myself, priced £1600-1950.

..and a couple of 2yo's but they're not thriving by comparison to the older ones as there's not enough grass and I'm having to put out bales which the big fat ponies get most of and the 2yo's don't get enough..  ::)
Prices being to someone that knows what they're doing with natives.
