Refilling Calor Gas Bottles??
« on: May 19, 2011, 12:06:56 pm »
My hob is run by calor gas. We bought our gas with us from our house move and there was also some already here.

When you take them to be refilled I believe you get a discount/money off?

Will they discount extra for extra empty bottles? I have 4 empty ones and one on it's way out but only want to buy one!

Can you tell I'be never used it before?!  :-[ ;)

There are two companies up here and both work differently when it comes to the bottles. I would find out which company/agent they belong to and ring them and see what they will do .They normally only deal with their own bottles and may only take them off your hands anyway if there is not paperwork with them.

You can pick up empty ones at Council recycling dumps - and there are two different fittings apparently.  I gave one I had lying to my daughter and son-in-law for their new BBQ and it didn't fit, so he picked one up at the dump that did fit.

Sorry did not answer your question about discounts. On your first purchase of bottle and gas you are paying a deposit on the bottle ,after that you only pay for the gas. If you keep the paperwork you can get your money for the bottle back if you change to leccy . If you dont have the paperwork they may accept the bottle off your hands

Yes, as others have said, they will take empties away for free, but you will only get any money for them if you trade them in within so long of actually 'buying' them in the first place. IIRC it was something like within 1 year 75%, 2 yrs 50% etc etc, but even then, you have to have the original lease paperwork with you, which it doesn't sound as though you have in this case.

Perhaps you'll just have to think of another use for them?:  ;)

Great isn't it?  Not my work unfortunately, although I do know a few people who have done similar.
