Hello all.    A friend of mine has asked me if anyone has the answer to the following question:

"We have four geese and a gander or so we believe. At this highly charged time of year for geese we see the gander keeping one of the geese away from his girls.

Have we too many geese for him to favour or could the other possibly be also a gander?"

I don't know how you tell the difference between a goose and a gander. Someone here must know...

I don't know either but I would imagine you might have two ganders there and the dominant one is trying to keep the other one away from 'his' girls.

I don't know how you tell the difference between a goose and a gander. Someone here must know...

We have two ganders and one goose at the moment (someone sadly killed our other goose).They are chinese geese and the ganders make a different noise to the goose, and the ganders are bigger with a larger knob thing on their beak.  Not sure if that helps.. but...
