introducing myself
« on: May 10, 2011, 02:38:29 pm »
Hi Everyone , i just realized i should have introduced myself before jumping in and joining the forum (typical woman) I'm based in the New Forest and have about 200 sheep, 1 ancient horse, a few pigs ( keeps changing, man goes and buys more) and a hubby who has a tractor addiction!
I love the forum, it is really informative and so nice to be able to share problems with other likeminded people

Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Hi and welcome from north Cumbria.  We farm beef & sheep and I am a closet smallholder on the side - house cow, native ponies, pig(s), chickens.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Hi from Brittany, I have very many happy memories of the New Forest.  Which part do you live in?

I live in lymington, and our ground is near the marshes near the mouth of the Lymington river. We also rent a lot of ground around Brockenhurst. My hubby grew up farming and it's in his blood but i'm a townie who had to learn everything from scratch. We both work full time Paul contract fencing and i'm at southampton hospital and we farm evenings and weekends really hard work but i wouldn't change it for anything even in the depths of winter.

Ringwood Market used to be the meeting place I think on a Wednesday for livestock and dead stock.

I frequent Salisbury market quite often and occasionally work there too.
