As we edge ever closer to another long weekend and a fairly important wedding(!), the weather news isn't as positive as it was for the Easter weekend.

We're going to keep the easterly breezes going throughout today and the weekend, so that will keep temperatures pegged back in the east of the country where it will often be cloudy. Further west there will be more breaks in the cloud so temperatures will have a chance to rise up into the mid-high teens, and in southern areas 20°c won't be out of the question.

Today it's a mainly dry picture, with just the northern half of Scotland seeing some light and patchy rain coming and going through the day and just the slight risk of a shower in the southeast of England. It's into tomorrow that the shower risk peps up - just in time for the Royal Wedding.

Tomorrow and throughout the weekend it's the southern half of the UK at risk of the showers, further north it stays generally dry.

Picking up the picture in more detail for tomorrow, the day should start mainly dry with just a few patches of drizzly rain moving in from the east, but the showers will soon get themselves going with just about anywhere from the Midlands southward in line to catch one - and yes that does include London!

More showers will develop on Saturday too with East Anglia, the southern half of the Midlands, southern England and South Wales most at risk, with a similar picture on Sunday too although perhaps by this point eastern and central parts will see a lower risk with southwestern parts, along with Ireland bearing the brunt. ...................................................................., the showers are currently expected to affect the southeast of the country during the day of the wedding, so not the best news for London. As is always the case though, showers are hit and miss so there is still only a 40% chance of showers affecting the wedding celebrations.

Temperature wise, 17-20°c is where it's likely to be - obviously feeling warmer during any sunnier spells and out of the breeze.

Thank goodness for some showers - we've not had a drop all month (Cambs). Although met office claims we've had a whopping 1.4mm in April I've not seen any of it.
