Wanted Pony On Loan
« on: January 20, 2009, 04:14:11 pm »
Does anyone near me ( Aberdeenshire, Banffshire ) know of or have a childs first pony that they would be willing to give out on loan. I am looking for a 12-13.2hh safe, does not buck, rear or bolt first pony for my granddaughter. She has ridden one of my Shetlands, done lead rein and in hand showing but now needs something bigger. Would consider an older animal as long as in good health, need not have show pony looks or be the best jumper etc just be safe for a nine year old to have some fun with when she stays weekends and holidays. I have over 40 years experience with horses, our own land and stables and company to share a paddock.  :)

Try Vets in Insch - they have a lot of equine clients. 01464 820235 I think from memory since 10 months ago when I moved from there to here.  Or your own vet.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

You could also try Worldwide Horse Welfare - formerly ILPH. They do loan schemes and have a base in Aberdeenshire - Belwade Farm, I think. With the credit crunch, I think they expect to have more horses coming in as owners can't afford to keep them.

At the moment the I.L.P.H. only have companions looking for homes or horses but I am keeping an eye on their web site. My blacksmith is also keeping an eye open for me as well. Could try my own vet  :)
