Feed Prices
« on: March 16, 2011, 11:39:22 pm »
Picked up some feed from the suppliers yesterday and just wondered what everyone else is paying.

Each of these is for a 20kg sack.

Spillers Layer Pellets - £8.50
Sow Rolls - £8.30
Bruised Barley - £6.35

But it was these that nearly knocked me on my arse: Bird Feed Peanuts - £34.50 !!!

Also picked up a 3ft galvanised trough for the pigs - £21.50

Yes, peanuts are extortionate!  Keep an eye on the likes of Lidl etc though, as sometimes they can actually be cheaper in there for the same weight in total. I believe it's because their main use is to extract oil for food, so they've gone up in line with all other foodstuffs.

A problem we have up here is increased carriage charges. Despite being mainland we're charged the same as if we were on an off-shore island. Even Royal Mail charge extra.

Thompsons of York 01904488388 - know they deliver into Derbyshire but not sure if they go as far south as you but no harm in giving them a call, just ask for 16% sow nuts - i feed all my pigs on them. they do have GM soya but no other crap!
