The only thing I can think of is maybe they're running out of brood space & starting to build upwards - would have thought it a little early though - are they very busy taking lots of pollen in?

havent noticed lots of pollen going in and only seems to be a few of them flying at any one time.    interesting one eh?  next nice warm day i'm going in to have alook, only concern is that the queen is in the fondant bag????

Oh to know what I'm doing!!!!! Well, a few sleepless nights, after looking at all the AFB info and pics and thinking I MIGHT have a problem, got hold of the fera guy (in Devon, no-one in Cornwall yet) and talked it through with him. Did the matchstick test, took some photos this morning and sent them to him and. . . panic over. On closer inspection this morning (as I didn't think it was a problem on Friday's inspection, just interesting, till I casually asked on here) it appears to be, yep, honey!!! And a bit more brood appearing now also. Happy to post my very poor photos if anyone's interested. But thanks for all your helpful respones guys, better to be safe than sorry and I've learned something from it anyway.
