Firstly, little 'Lucky' (named by Lillian & Robert cos they were here visiting and got roped in
Don't know what I'd have done without you guys THANKS AGAIN
) is back out with mum
He had some 'litter care' from Supplies from Smallholders (on here
) and after a bit of a heat up and a few syringes of baby milk was trying to jump out of the box
He's had a feed with mum and is suggled up with the rest of his brothers and sisters. All's well that ends well
Secondly, the 8 weeks out thing
She was definately served on 10-10-10 (we saw the evidence) and she definately didn't seem to come back into season 3 weeks after this. So we brought her in to the shed just before 30th Jan expecting piglets, she hurt her leg (some of you may remember the post about the metacam) and the 30th came and went with no piglets
We kept her in thinking that maybe she had returned to season and after a quick recalculation figured the piglets would arrive around the 20th of February. Needless to say that came and went too with no signs
So further calculations made us think that next week would have been her date, except she got fed up hanging around in the shed and broke out last week so she could go back to the field with her hubby
We noticed her udder starting to bag up on Tuesday, planned to move her back into the shed today. Went out this morning to feed her and no sign of her in the field, a quick check of the arc revealled piglets and mummy seeming well. We did our mad dash switch around of pigs and pens and fields
and brought her and her piglets inside. Phew - what a day !
Here's a photo of Rebecca giving Lucky a cuddle before he went back out - I'll get photos of the whole lot tomorrow.
Thanks for all you comments and wishes,
