Kelpie bitch, 2 years old needs new home
« on: March 08, 2011, 02:17:43 pm »
I am currently fostering a beautiful kelpie (poss x but I doubt it!) bitch, she's 2 years old and has had a fairly rotten start to life involving maany homes and a litter of puppies.  Though she is a calm, responsive dog and very keen to please.  I have walked her in field of cattle and she took no notice, and hasn't taken much notice of the sheep - So I doubt she would be a worker!

She's had a bit of separation anxiety, but this is improving with every day she's here, but she's learning from our other dogs (dogs and bitches - Been fine with both...) so would be best suited to a multidog household and not left for long periods initially.  She'd excel at dog sports I'm sure - Agility/flyball etc... And will need plenty of exercise (though happily potters around here all day, just enjoying the space and company!) and continual training/mental stimulation.

She is perfect in the house, brought up with young children and babies and currently living with us with 4 month old.  She's a nervous dog, but I think hardly surprising with her past, but she'll make someone a wonderful loyal family dog.  We were advised she didn't like noisy young lads (I dread to think why) but I think this could be worked through with patience and kindness - She's not shown agression, just barking and backing away.

If we were in a position to keep her, we would - She's been no bother! - But already have 4 dogs of which 2 are 2 years old... And a 4 month old baby!  ::)  Potential homes will be homechecked and a donation to Kelpie Welfare is requested.  And I'd personally like to stay in contact to hear how she's getting on!

For more info, please PM me - She's on foster with us via Kelpie Welfare, and is near Oswestry, Shropshire.
