Always wanted to make one of these. Are they easy to make? Love the one with the sheep on.  :)

Yep, all made with cut up bits from clothes bought from charity shops.
The celtic 1 took about 400 hours.

Very nice!

I enjoy making rag rugs too but have never done a picture.
Nice to see that someone else uses proper rags too.

How easy is it to make a rag rug.  Did you go on a course or what? Always fancied making one as Mum was always on about her Grandmother making them. I like the one with the sheep. Shame it's not a Ryeland. ;D ;D

Really, really easy. I can't speak for other people but I didn't go on a course to learn. My dad showed me as it's something he has always done but it is really just a case of pulling pieces of cloth through hessian.

There are some pretty straightforward instructions here: http://www.btinternet.com/~aldous/page9.html

I love those celtic designs! Well done.
Now - I'm confused.....there seem to be rag rugs and braided rag rugs. I have been looking for a 'how to' site and they all seem to show different techniques! Your hooked style - are the short strips just passed through and back up again or are they knotted like a wool latch rug?
Confused!
Liz
