De-Husking Oats ?
« on: March 03, 2011, 04:19:56 pm »
A friend is asking how we coped with de-husking oats in the old days . Does anybody know of any easy way to do this that doesn't involve sitting picking each grain apart with the fingernails ? Not winnowing, jsut splitting off the husks ..?

A ripple mill is what they used to use and sometimes they come up for sale as a second hand lot.  Have never seen them new....
