Which Hen is laying?
« on: March 03, 2011, 10:09:13 am »
Other than spending the day outside the coop watching who goes in and out, is there anyway to see which chicken is laying which egg?

I seem to be getting one darker egg and 2 paler eggs these days, which I would assume corresponds to my 2 Copper Stars and 1 ex-bat. Except the Ex-bat used to lay 'normal' colour and these are very pale and the Coppers used to lay a darker brown.

So I am wondering if the Blue is now laying - her comb is still small but turning red (about 19-20 weeks) and hers are very pale. But they are a similar size to the other chooks who are now 1 yr old, and I remember when they started to lay their 1st eggs were much smaller.  ???
