Lambs coming
« on: February 17, 2011, 08:28:26 pm »
I bought some of my sheep in on monday as they are due from sunday and all looking very large the rest i have left out as i thought they were about 3 weeks away yet,was late feeding tonight as someone had come to collect 5 geese so out i go with the hay and bucket nearly dark and i find one of the sheep laying down next to the feed trough, she didnt move when i fed the others and i could touch her which is most unusual, all the other ewes kept coming up and sniffing her back end then it dawned on me she must be having her lamb by this point its pitch black and foggy, went back to house to get the car to drive in to the field to bring her in luckly one of my boys had come home so he came and helped me,when we got back to the field she had gone from where she was so there we are looking in the dark found her right at the top of the field carried her to the car and took her down into the stables, made her a nice comfy straw bed at the moment shes up and down with alittle pawing of the ground,so excited these are my first home born lambs.
Back out now to see if we have lambs.

It wasn't one of the Hebs was it? If so I will panic as ours are on next door field at present.
