Sterilising Egg Boxes...microwave?
« on: April 12, 2011, 08:42:29 pm »
I remember, a few years ago now, we were stopped from using toilet roll inners to make crafts with the Brownies & Guides (due to H&S) unless they had been microwaved for, I think  ??? , 30 seconds - supposedly to kill any bacteria  :P

Does anyone do this with their egg boxes? Does it work? if so, how long for & on what power etc?

It's a nice idea. I'll ask my wife, the biology teacher...

{Later...}

OK the boss says 30 seconds to a minute in the microwave should be sufficient to kill pretty much any bacteria on the surface of an egg box.
