I have my first home bred Shetland colt ready to vet and DNA next month. Not a cheap thing to do but he is stunning. A dark chestnut, 40ins and moves like a dream. I no longer breed myself but people who have seen him at his first show last year where he won and went on to be junior champion are keen to use him. I would like nothing better than to see foals out there with my Prefix in their pedigrees. As I have no wish to sell him there is a chance all being well that he will be going to a stud in Shetland for a season. I have friends who would let me know if he was not being cared for. Next year will be my piebald colt who came from my friend in Shetland and he too did very well in the show ring last summer, as he is only 2 I am giving him time before deciding if it would be best to geld and then run him on to break as a show ridden. My other 2 year old, again from Shetland was gelded last year and is so lovely, he was not shown last year as he looked all legs and bum but now he looks like a childs dream pony. My 3 year old black gelding will be broken next year and a friend knows a child that will ride him in the show ring for me. All long term plans I know but without my boys I would be so lost. Not being able to ride for the past 9 years was quite a blow so having Shetlands gave me purpose back and they keep me laughing even on days like this when its pouring, cold and windy. Lets face it we all need something to smile about.  ;D :horse:
