Thanks for all your help.  Taster milk is ordered and should arrive this week, so all being well we'll soon be on the hunt for some milk sheep!

Which are the best breed to go for?

I kept Frieslands many years ago. They were big, friendly, very co-operative sheep who gave a good yield of milk, a good fleece and, made excellent eating and the good ram lambs were much sought after for crossing with commercial ewes.
The milk made lovely soft cheese and creamy yoghurt.

Success!

My wife tried the sheep milk today and she (and the kids) loved it!!

We are now on the hunt for some Frieslands.  Anyone who knows of any please let me know.

Thanks again for all your advice!

My Lacaune lambed on 14th Feb - two boy lambs, darn it.  Unfortunately she's developed some warty growths further up her teats, which will make milking impossible.  Lambs are doing fine tho.

I don't think the other ewe held to the tup, again, so she's a dead loss.

Think I'm going to be looking for more milk sheep; difficult to find, I guess.
