I meant the pedigree not the pups.  An 'Excellent' pedigree is classed as red because Champions are shown as red in a pedigree.  A 'good' pedigree will show lines tying up on both sides or an outstanding dog or bitch on either or both sides. Anything else is JUST a pedigree.

Are we still talking about pedigrees?  My dogs are working dogs - gundogs.  They have Field Trial Champion pedigrees - in red.  Ancestors printed in blue (or black or any other colour for that matter) are not necessarily either worked or trialled.

Ah I see.  Well, the KC preferred option is for ALL champions to be in red.  (Presumably because you can't get working champions in the majority of groups) So must be a tradition in collies I guess.

Hmm, in that case I am flummoxed as it isn't standard in any pedigrees I've seen, and I have seen a LOT!  I didn't know there were working tests or trials for terriers so they can qualify as KC Working Champions either, so just goes to show you are always learning
