Top Bar Hives for sale £125 ono?
« on: January 07, 2011, 04:02:36 pm »
Hi All

My bees were doing well last spring when the were unfortunately killed off by a spray incident (very sad at the time)

So I have 4 very nice top bar hives nicely made for me out of solid pieces of 48" x 12" x1 " Douglas Fir., and one bought from Thornes which has had a very sturdy stand made for it.

The 4 cost me £125 each so I was hoping to get round about that back, but if someone wanted the lot I am open to offers.  I can probably arrange carriage at cost.

Top bar hives are a bit easier on the back than the conventional, and also if you cannot lift very high.

so the they have been outside and the wood is weathered down a bit.

All the best
Sue

Sorry all - these have now been sold, but I do have a Thornes top bar hive which I think cost me about £100 in early summer 2009.  It came without a stand, but I have had a really sturdy one made, so it is now a comfortable working height

I would take £75 if anyone is interested, plus I will include a bottle of swarm lure which works really well.  Before my "spray" incident I had 7 hives, the first of which was self installed, and from this three other swarms self installed.  Now that's what I call trouble free beekeeping.  It also helps installed swarms to want to stay put.

All the best

Sue, I thought I PM'ed about your final hive but I may have bodged it up. Are your hives all sold now? If not I am interested in your above offer.
Best Wishes

Hi there - Yes I was waiting for you to get in touch, as I thought I saw somewhere that you are going in for an op, and I didn't want to hassle you about buying the hive if you had other things on your mind, or might not be fit enough to cope with a new venture.

You said about meeting up somewhere which will be fine.  Leominster might be good or Tenbury Wells if you don't want to come all the way to me.

I thought I had PM'd you with details, but sometimes my proficiency with boards and emails is not as good as I would like.  Let me know when and where suits you best and I will try and fit in.

All the best
