Putting the laser to work
« on: August 03, 2024, 01:00:30 pm »
I bought an entry level laser engraver specifically for leather work. Have done some patches for hats and just for fun and more recently been working on some minimalist card holders.

This has been a learning curve as I also didn't know how to sew so have taught myself to saddle stitch with the help of youtube.

I had a few ideas around what I wanted these to look like and they involved the use of camo somewhere so needed some fabric that was laserable and was unlikely to fray. I did some research and settled on 500d nylon which so far seems to fit the bill

This is the first full size one I've pulled together, just waiting on some edge paint to touch up where I've sanded / smoothed then I think it's done, this has a desert tiger stripe camo but I'm also working on a jungle duck hunter one with green leather and also an engraved topography pattern
