We used to keep cockerels in order to breed birds for the table. Our neighbour isn't keen as they wake her up. She's about 300 metres away . So we need to switch to something that doesn't wake her up in the morning!
Turkeys? Or ducks? Any other ideas?

Ducks will be quiet overnight, but they will be noisy as feeding time approaches, morning or evening! They are probably your best bet though compared to turkeys, geese or cockerels.

Yes ear plugs would be a good idea . Yes it's the countryside and they are farmers......

I quite like the look of runner ducks. Or Aylesburies.

Go for runners if you have lots of space. I have runner crosses, they are great and spend all day trundling round our holding and the fields beyond. Proper Aylesburys are huge and quite rare these days. Most things being advertised as Aylesburys are commercial crosses.
