Please can anyone help 16-20hp engine.
« on: March 11, 2023, 07:53:04 am »

Has anyone got a 16-20hp engine spare to replace a vanguard v twin?
Must be horizontal shaft but apart from that anything considered, runner, non runner etc doesn't really matter what make it is as long as the dimensions are what we need.

It looks like an insignificant post by a person who posts very little but would you all if you can look in your sheds & garages  :eyelashes:
It’s for mate’s Sawmill.. It went bang when he was doing some milling for myself and some friends last weekend and I can’t fix it cos it went proper BANG!
Any help with this is really very appreciated as it’s an older engine and an Australian machine with a +year long wait for a replacement engine..
Many many thanks in advance.. 🙌🙏
I’m on the Isle of Mull. Obviously willing to pay for the engine and willing to travel or organise delivery if it’s the right engine.  Again Thank you.

Hi [member=24259]Bert[/member] . I've just googled this engine (Briggs and Stratton vanguard 16HP), which you can buy new here in France for €2500, so pretty expensive. Wondering if you could adapt any horizontal shaft engine using pulley and belt to the original shaft, so is V twin necessary?

Hi @chirsmahon
Thanks for that. Yeah we can’t afford a new one really. Any engine would do as long as it’s a horizontal 1” shaft and 16hp + .I don’t know v twin is 100 % necessary but it does have to fit into a designated space. Measurements I don’t have to hand just at the moment. And it does have a lot of work to do as it’s for a Lucas mill.

Photo before it went bang in spectacular fashion  :'( :'( :'(  .
