ALl the hubbards are now dispatched and being plucked, when do we gut them? ASAP or can they be left a few hours?

you can leave them. probably better it reduces the smell a bit when they have gone cool.

Just be carefull that they don't freeze over night like my turkey did, or you might have to thaw a bit before you start the job.

I am going to cook all four, they are going to be gutted soon, still getting the bits of feathers off and next time we will do it earlier!!!

I've done 12 table birds this week & I've had enough. Nicely plucked the first 3, plucked legs and breasts of next 3. After that I gave up... last six were skinned and just took off the legs, thighs and breast.

I need a whizzbang, I do. I doubt Santa will bring me one though. ;)

Whats a "wizzbang?" We managed 4 but would rather have done 2 at a time.....not half as bad as I thought and with the freezing temps no smell in the garage!!! We may do it again in the summer as the meat was very nice, never got to weigh them as our scales is dodgy (poltergist?) I found it strange that so many people have gone funny about my son in law going on a legal shoot and bringing back 2 Deer for food, he paid as well but people have been very short sighted and found it offensive....what better end to be shot while roaming rather then farmed, taken to market, taken to the abatoir then killed, not to mention fed crap and chemicals and shoved around queing for thier turn to "go" aren't people strange???

Quite right, Sandy. That's one of the reasons I like going on our small shoot with the dogs - I know what I am eating afterwards.  They are just ignorant morons if they were offended by that photo!

Now thats good but it did make me laugh!!!!!! I wonder if the meat get brused? We did 4 and they were big uns and not half as bad as I thought....they were dispatched very very quickly while they were asleep, then plucked while warm and gutted 2 days later with not much smell at all, Steve and me and happy to have a go ourselves as the meat was very nice and very cheap!!!!! I WANT A WHIZZ BANG!!!!!!
