Hello from the NorthWest Highlands of Scotland
« on: December 17, 2010, 07:29:15 pm »
Hello to you all.

I live on a 5 acre Croft in the North West Highlands and have been an active member of a couple of forums.

I currently keep Chickens, Light Sussex, Ixworth and Aracana, including Lonely the Cockerel who is a Gold Pencilled Hamburg, he may be small in size but what he lacks in stature he makes up for in aggression and regularly patrols all the pens looking for trouble.  He was the remaining survivor from a fox attack that took 14 birds so he must have some good genetics in him.  I have just slaughtered 3 Bronze turkeys and am currently trying to find out if I am hanging them correctly with the guts in and feathers on!

I am ankle deep in snow at the moment, mainly due to the fact that the winds were blowing northerly over the Croft so I was spared this time.

I live completely off-grid and produce all my own power requirements via Wind/Solar and Hydro which sadly at the moment is broken!

Hope to get some sheep next year for meat and my partners spinning requirements after the essential fencing has been erected.

My partner is just venturing into the art of Cold Process Soap making, along with spinning, natural dying and candle making.  Me I am trying to master the art of woodturning.

Floyd by the way is my 3 year old Border Collie who is always at my side.

Look forward to talking to you all soon. Merry Festives

Lee

Hi, and welcome from West Cornwall
My brother and his wife have just bought a place near Ullapool (well, on the opposite shore of Loch Broome to Ullapool) so we could very well be taking advantage of the opportunity to come up that way and take the bikes (motorbikes!) for  a spin along the fabby scottish highland roads  ;D ;D
That won't be until the summer though.....!
