OK, I'm hoping someone can advise so I can at least get some sleep tonight before ringing environmental health in the morning...
I'm collecting a batch of lambs from the abattoir on Wednesday morning. Ive just found out that for reasons best known to themselves they've vac packed but not labelled the cuts. I did specifically ask for labels when I booked them in and they knew they're supposed to be going as (frozen) lamb/half lamb boxes. But without labels I'm pretty sure I can't sell a thing. They've said they can't label them now as they don't have time.
Can anyone tell me what label info is mandatory please? Country of origin, weight, date of freezing? If weight has to be on am I allowed to weigh them myself? (BTW I am registered with EH as a food business, etc etc).
I've just gone round in circles reading FSA and DEFRA info, which only seems to refer to beef or meat products, not plain non-beef meat joints. Hopefully I can get some labels ordered ASAP if I know what needs to be on them! Otherwise I've lost a couple of grand's worth of meat sales. I could cry.
TIA...
