Feeding Sugar beet
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:39:32 pm »
We have two GOS aged 4 months and we feed the usually pellets with veg and fruit.

I was wondering if it is okay to fees them soaked sugar beet pellets, the same type I use for the horses.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi sunshine, have read on other forums that yes you can feed to pigs however many people use it to reduce weight in pigs or slow down growth if pigs get to fat. also some comments that pigs are not fond of beet very picky slow to eat it. comments on river cottage web site. hope this is helpful, low in protein...............neil

If you want to add bulk, use cooked potatoes, veggies, even stale bread.  Ask at your local supermarket, greengrocer and baker for the chuckouts.

Many thanks for the replies.

Will read the River Cottage forum stuff and they already get the veggies, etc it was just that I think our horses do well on sugar beet and hoped it would work with pigs too!
