Me again, after rereading your post. Sounds like the first thing to do is sort the carpets. Even sticking down the edges isn't good enough, you really do need fitted carpets. My aunt was one who loved her Persian rugs so it took a lot to persuade her they had to go - she had them in a crazy paving mishmash everywhere! The fitted carpets were really not expensive, laminate flooring is even cheaper. So have a think of how to sort the floors to make them easier to navigate and prevent accidents.
Am catching up!
Revealed to be a sprain, not a fracture but with being 80 and already decrepit etc, more falls hurt more especially when the current pain medication can barely keep current pains at bay. DONT START "learn to manage pain". I find the plonkers who suggest stupid things like that have never felt pain like that before in their lives. Car crash in the 1960's is where a lot of her pain starts from, before and after then manual working, lugging 40/50kg by herself as that is what was expected etc (no health and safety).
We do have fitted carpets, also have non slip flooring, she cant pick her feet up on either! I heard a bang the other day, I walked into the front room, she on bum, "I hit my head" she said. Bent forward, gravity took over, need I say more?

On another note, my limit is 25kg, though I prefer 20kg. Sugar Beet for example used to be 40kg paper bags and mum and I would lift them together, telling each other not to laugh, which we would. I also find now, that the last time paracetamol actually worked for me when I was much younger. In my early 20's, thinking "I could lift this" I grabbed a bag of sheep corn, to help mum and swizzled it over my shoulder......... Ever since, I get nerve pinches just between shoulder blade and neck. Nice big red pills killed the pain in the past, Nabumetone or something like that, doesnt touch me now! "Oh, I used to be on that" I got told off mum when 1st prescribed it! Oh to be old (currently 48), the last few days, pain in right side, hurts when I breathe or try to lift.... going slowly, it'll be gone in a few more days....I've got another 32 yrs of pain to look forward to, yippee.....
