Pine sap on sheep face
« on: August 13, 2022, 04:05:25 pm »
One of my pet sheep has been indulging herself by rubbing her face on pine trees and apart from  smelling lovely, her face is a bit of a tarry mess (not near eyes or anything). Does anyone know if this is harmful or if i should try to remove it? If so, how?  Many thanks in advance!

Pine tar is used as a liquid or in fairly thick form as stockholm tar ,which can be used on cuts or head wounds to protect against flies and promote healing , we use it in some soaps / shampoos . So will not hurt your sheep plus lots of luck if you try to remove it , given time it will wash /wear off
