Cheeky questions folk!

1 - How much is a ewe, or 3 likely to cost me? (Can't have 2 in case one snuffs it and sheep here seem to have a them & us mentality!)

2 - Anybody got any and what do YOU think of them! (I know we all have our favourites, I've recently become an admirer of Wiltshire Horns and like several other types, BUT, question is for Exlana as apart from the SIG website, there doesn't seem to be any other info.)

But as a side question, what is the difference between Exlana and 'Easycare' please?

I'll answer -- i am a breeder and so some will say bound to talk them up but----
1) Current price list attached, this is for sheep that come from either the stud flocks or from multipliers---multipliers use our best rams and do some disease screening so we know a bit about their stock
2) What do i think of them? You probably need an unbiased opinion rather than my say so but i am in mid lambing 600 ewes , i get out in the field at 7:30/8am i'm back by 11am ---i will take another look around later on and be home by 6pm --most of my time is taken up collecting data (tagging/weighing etc) --they are maternal sheep , 60/65kg mature weight, scan for me from 170 to 195% (depending on grass etc) and their lambs finish at 18.9kg on an R grade most of the time (that's my 5 years rolling average, obviously there are some U & O grades too)
3) Difference between Exlana and Easycare? ---Original Easycares were bred up from welsh mountain ewes but the term is often used to describe any shedding sheep in this country so i have seen Easycares bred up from Suffolks and from Shetlands
Exlanas are performance recorded with emphasis put on maternal and hard to measure traits like worm resistance (we do individual FEC on 1200 + lambs a year as well as IgA serum analysis to identify those animals most likely to be parasite resistant) the stud flocks that produce rams are also heavily screened for the iceberg diseases like MV & BD
If you want to know how an Exlana performs then a near equivalent may be the Lleyn without the hassles of wool
