Lambs

This year I had seven ewes to lamb, they produced five sets of twins and rwo singles. Very strange but every lamb was female. Still it saves on rings I suppose.

Can't complain at that. .
Out of 9 goat kids I had 2 males, lowest % ever.

That's good. I've had 10 lambs, 3 tups, 2 of which are singles and if my eyes didn't deceive me weighed 30kg last week and 10 week old, my grass and their scrappy Wiltshire mum's are doing me proud. (Lambs are Dorset Down). 2 sets of Twins born at the same time are 24kg and girls. These were for keeping BUT Dorothy Gale keeps going through my electric fence and though I have had words with her, doesn't listen. Her sister Glinda does, as does her mum (the) Witch. (She was a right Witch the B**ch when she came last year, has now slightly mellowed!)

Yep. If anybody is wondering where their (mis-marked) boys went, they're here.

Second year of nearly 50/50 split for my goats!

In 2021 (only kidded 5) we had 6 males and 5 females, with one male born dead.

In 2022 (kidded 8) we had 8 males and 7 females, again with one male born non-viable.

Unfortunately accuracy of the scanning was way out for the first time ever, don't think the vet  (very competent otherwise) had done lots of goat scanning before.

Also 2nd year of 100% success with my laprascopically AI-ed goats, last year did 3 this year 5! The vets at AB Europe definitely getting better with the technique.

First five were all girls, next four were boys, two more still to come.

I'm feeling a bit smug because I managed to identify and disentangle the back legs of one lamb and the head of its twin when they both decided to come out at the same time.
