Any TAS ukulele players ?
« on: March 14, 2022, 04:00:11 pm »
Just bought me a tenor ukulele to learn.  Have found some good free on-line resources already, but would be very pleased to receive any TAS uke players' recommends on either free or paid-for on-line training resources or good ol' hard-copy books.

[ When searching my new uke options, I soon realised relatively rare (or very rare) hard-woods are still the order of the day for stringed instruments.  So, instead, I bought a modestly priced one made out of bamboo grass (particularly in case this new learning venture comes to nought). The bamboo tone sounds pretty good to my ears ! ]

Thanks Rosemary, but uke is one of the many stringy things I don't play. It won't surprise you to hear that I've thought of making one though.....

Ukes are great of course - you can pick up a great one for very little money, and get strumming.

There's so much more to ukes than loitering around lamp-posts!  Here's another example ...

[ I've been doing research into sustainability of traditional tone-woods for musical instruments.  I find that, ACTUALLY, there is much effort going into finding alternatives to tropical tone-woods (i.e. using non-tropical natural timber or using chemically or physically modified timbers) as well as sponsored projects for the propagation and planting of tropical tone-woods for sustainable harvesting in the very long-term.  Obviously, one should still check with the seller whether one's desired instrument has been manufactured from sustainably produced woods ! ]

I'm not going to go on and on about ukuleles, but I came across this by accident and just loved it, so I am sharing: no doubt a fav' "song" of many, not just me, which I thought the duo did so well with a big smile - hope you enjoy.

Wouah this performance is amazing. I'm not a big fan of the singer's voice, but the whole piece is great. I could not imagine you could render such a song with ukulele. thanks for sharing
My daughter had 4 years of ukulele at school but ended up giving up  :'(
hope she will one day pick it up again
