Forgive me if this is the wrong forum but I am not a regular on TAS.

I wanted to ask whether anybody could offer advice regarding a grass variety for seeding on our steep land which we think is acid soil, and quite clay rich.  We have a very small flock (three) of Hebrideans which have done a brilliant job of clearing a lot the scrub, and we wish to improve the quality of the grazing and hopefully improve the integrity of the bank at the same time. I am struggling to find a local seed merchant for advice (we are in the Derbyshire Dales) and so any advice on a suitable seed/mix (or a seed merchant in Derbyshire!) would be greatly received.

Have you tried your local agri store? Not Derbyshire but we used St Catherines Seeds in the past. Just google them.

Try Alison at Grass seed direct. She’s sorted out our lawn and margins.

Try Pro-Green, they offer a wide range of seeds, fertilisers etc

For Hebs a herbal ley is good, with plenty of variety of grass and herb species in there, plus a little clover.
