Ours aren't registered either. We just wanted shedding sheep large enough to produce a decent lamb carcass when crossed with anything! One has a wonky horn so she wouldn't win any prizes but is extremely placid and happy to stand for hours having her chin scratched.
We also have Soays which tick the pretty box :)

Going off topic I know but what do you do with the Soays? Thats what mum asks me. Currently way understocked but under or over, they all (apart from Tugger) need to earn their keep via meat or lamb sales at auction etc. My Shetlands, to Dorset Down threw really good animals, breeding and eating but I don't think I'd put a DD on a Soay. I'm no lambing expert and the nearest vet is 20 miles when they are in this area.

Even Had the privilege of a c-section this year. My poor back and knees! Why they can't knock the ewe out is beyond me. Gas, cut, pull out, stitch up revive..... Easier by far!
No matter how crap you feel, always remember you're one of the lucky ones with your own piece of land and loony sheep!

Because ruminants are high risk for complications, especially inhaling regurgitated food, with general anaesthesia.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Oh the Soays are mainly pets but also there to produce meat, it just takes longer to grow!
