Bringing goats in for the winter
« on: November 25, 2010, 12:06:53 pm »
My goats are still out and seem fine, they have a barn to sleep in with unlimited access outside.  When should I think of bringing them in for the winter?

Hi Fifi,

Am I right in thinking your goats are Cashmere or Angora? If they are, and they have the access you have mentioned to the barn they should be fine. If they are pregnant I would start shutting them in at night so it is warmer for them, but unless there is lots of snow on the ground, or the ground is really damp, I would let them go out during the day for a good while yet.

Hi Beth, yes they are cashmere cross Boer and have got their lovely winter coats now!  I have 3 who are just about to come back from the Billy, so i could start shutting them in then at night.

they definitely hate it when it rains!
