Well it looks as if once more Gordon and I willbe on our own for Christmas. Not seeing any of the family left me feeling very down. Needs must and all that. On a good note no need to get all dressed up can wear Christmas PJ's and instead of cooking the turkey will just have steak. Instead we can all have video calls on the day.

We've just cancelled our Solstice and Christmas plans too.  As soon as it's warm enough we'll have a get together on the beach with a barbie or something instead.  With Omicron zooming ahead as it is it's just too risky to meet up indoors. Mr F and I have gone back to shielding in spite of it no longer being deemed necessary by Government - it's not their lives, is it?  It's better to be safe than sorry and a few sacrifices just might save your life or the life of someone you love.

Just been speaking to my next door neighbour.. he was out and about trying to raise another neighbour from across the road.
We chatted for a few minutes .. all fine until he dropped into the conversation that his wife and daughter were both
indoors with covid.

I had a conversation with a friend last week when I dropped off her Christmas present - she asked me in for a cuppa. 
I'm clean said  I,  so am I she said - oh, have you managed to get testing kits?  No I don't do tests but I'm fine.
I said if you haven't tested then I'm not coming in, you're not clean of covid.  Suit yourself she said and shut the  door,  I wonder if that's the end of the friendship?

I spoke to a friend who had heard through connections that there may be incoming coronavirus restrictions from the 6th of January.

A smaller celebration of Christmas again this year for us.

We're ensuring  we have a pack of LFTs in hand at the time we order our next one.

Christmas is just the two of us as normal.  Family who were going to drop by cancelled as wanting to take no risks before Christmas with their grandchildren.  One lot of neighbours away in America for the month and another who is having both his and hers children, along with the three grandchildren, all from London for two weeks.  I have dropped both sets Christmas pressies in already so that I do not have to meet up and be unsociable with them.

Two 40 year olds from neighbouring farms are both down with covid.  Neither were vaccinated as that was just for old folk and the papers scaremongering.  Neither is doing well with the "It's just a cold" thing.

Stay safe and have a Happy Christmas all.

Appears to me that people have their sensible heads on and don't need the government to tell them how to act.

The one thing that the response to the pandemic has shown is that the great British public will not voluntarily comply with guidance!

Even when there were restrictions in place there was people taking day trips to the beaches and ignoring social distancing.

Travel on public transport is not something I would undertake lightly as there appears to be more and more people not wearing masks.

It does seem for every positive action that a decent hard working member of public does to keep the country going there is an opposite action of an irresponsible person deciding that they can carry on as normal. Take for example students told to isolate and deciding to go home for christmas despite being tested positive for coronavirus!

I would love to think that the majority would be sensible and that we can all enjoy christmas with family, but more and more I've been left thinking that people are dicks.

Let's face it, Westminster hasn't set anyone a good example has it?   

I don't really blame people for saying 'I'm clean because I don't have any symptoms so I don't need to take a test.'  I was kind of there myself until I realised that I had gone into Tesco and been there a lot longer than I expected, so I had put myself at risk, even fully jabbed and with a mask on.  And it hasn't really been pushed that everyone should self test in case they are asymptomatic

The tests are a bit of a faff till you've done it a couple of times but with the new nose only swabs it is not nearly so uncomfortable.  The throat swabs might have put some people off doing them too - it did me.

Christmas joy !

Extended family just wondering about the intra-family interaction this Xmas. Consequences:

Middle sis' hoping to be able to cancel/postpone the big turkey (ref the 25th) with local farmer.
Big sis' wasn't expecting daughters to make the trip down, but seems the youngest & family determined to do the trip back to Cornwall (with them having suffered/got through having Covid quite recently) - so big sis' now thinking the opposite as regards turkey.
I've been invited to Xmas lunch by my ex-, but, of course, am having to think about a minimal purchase of Xmas comestibles, just for me, in case we are all locked down (I might include a few brussels - well, maybe !)

What a mess ! (I'm not actually inclined to blame it all on the Government though cos Covid and Omicron were/are just too difficult to call reliably).  And I'm still having arguments with supermarket shoppers.  There I was checking out Waitrose's small section of 0% alcohol imitation booze (!!!) when a stupid woman cruised into my space:  I gave up my "I was here first" rights to provide a decent separation between us, but, after she farted around for ages, I could not but ask how long she was going to take so that I could go back to my original shopping. "Oh, merry Christmas to you" she said ... "I'm hoping it might be"  I said  "if you haven' just passed covid on to me.  Of course, maybe I have just passed it on to you - in which case I wish you a dismal Christmas!"

It's very easy to take the wrong meaning from something written in innocence and what you actually wrote, not what you meant, was what struck me as inaccurate. Pals again?
