Could this be bloat?

Good evening

I wonder if someone can help. One of my Zwartble ewes has a very large stomach this evening. She is 7 yrs. she is bright in herself and ran up the paddock for her tea and apart from her appearance is behaving completely normally. However I didn’t like the look of her tummy and wonder if it’s bloat? I e never seen it before. They have been eating as normal, no new feed, plenty of hay over last 4 weeks as grass is poor. They are not fed anything with oats or wheat it’s all fibre based. I’m wondering if I should call a vet right away?

Hi, I am not a sheepy person but I do think that a phonecall and a chat with a vet would be a good idea.

Hope your sheep is ok

I hope your sheep was ok. If she ran in she probably didn't have bloat as it is pretty uncomfortable. If you are ever in doubt about your animal's health call the vet asap. Don't rely on forums as we are not vets, we can't see your animals and there is no guarantee anyone will see your post.

There are however lots of lovely, experienced people on here who will help whenever they can with general care and looking after poorly sheep.

Let us know how you got on. Shared experiences help us all.
