Lamb poo looks like dog poo
« on: June 10, 2021, 09:09:03 am »
Hello,

we have two pet lambs, they are the first sheep that we keep. One of them, about 7 weeks old, has had droppings that basically look like dog poo and are rather sticky - not sticking to his bum, but to the shovel when I pick them up. He seems perfectly fine otherwise, eats well, is active and lively, the only thing I've noticed is that he sometimes bleats while pooping, as if he's straining - but the droppings are not hard.
There was no change to his diet before it started and they are both womed.

If it's not changed by Saturday I'll take a sample down to the vet, just wanted to ask here in case anyone has had the same experience.

Thank you!

Sometimes it's rabbit droppings, more often than not it's dog poo and sometimes it's cow pats.  Like ourselves, it will vary according to input and other factors.  Personally I don't worry as long as it's not projectile.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
