Wormy lamb

Morning All, may i ask...i wormed my few pet lambs with a white wormer 2 weeks ago & noticed over the last few days one of the 3 is passing a lot of what look like white tape worm segments (like grains of rice). They dont appear to be alive  :fc:. One had passed quite a section of tape worm a few days after worming (not sure which one) but is it normal to be passing this 2 weeks later or could it still be a live problem. They are all clean so no external signs of worms but im still learning! When would you next worm & what would you worm with next please? Many thanks

Tapeworm doesn't usually cause issues to sheep, but what you're seeing is probably segments of dead tapeworm. The white wormer will probably have killed it. R.e. next wormer- monitor their burden with faecal egg counts and only treat if the vet tells you to when they do the egg count. Regular worming of lambs is a. often not needed and b. will speed up resistance to wormers which you definitely don't want.

Each farm is different, but for the last few years my lambs have only had a white wormer in late spring and not needed any additional treatment until well into the autumn, but as said we monitor with faecal egg counts and treat accordingly.

I had one ewe this Spring that needed a white wormer for tapeworm. It took a week before I stopped seeing segments. On a previous occasion when I used a white wormer (again for an individual animal not whole flock) they passed a whole worm overnight and nothing more seen after that. Each sheep is different it seems .....
