Staggers, bloat, or clostridium perfringens
« on: April 10, 2021, 09:49:50 am »
Hello, i live in the alpujarras of spain , i am new to this site, i run a small animal rescue centre mainly for dogs and cats, i have three yews which have all given birth, this year, two are on bottles and one starting to eat grain, hay and  new grass his mother has crashed down and is unable to stand, i have to turn her over every 4 hours, she thrashes her legs and had very bad diarrea, my pastor gave her a shot for this along with a pain killer, the diarrea has stopped and she lays almost comatosed , i have given her penicilina shots intramuscular, and a vaccination for vasquilla, (clostridium ) subcutaneous,  she has been in this state for ten days and she has not eaten , i syringe water down her throat , she is two years old and i am reluctant to euthenase her, do you think i should,? Has anyone ever experienced this illness.
I would be grateful for any advice.  Gracias  D

Not one to beat around the bush- from what you've said she sounds like she's suffering, so yes I would put her down.

10 days down is a long time and not eating , her internal organs are probably failing , you've done your best time to put her to sleep
