Hi,

Yes I know we can get married anywhere- the side of a hill is quite appealing to me! But- think we might have to do the family thing. Will have a chat with them and see what we can get away with.

Sandy will explain better, but as far as I know the registrar can only marry you in places that have a licence for marriages, but a minister can marry you anywhere - but you need to find a minister willing to do so if you are not one of his parishioners. Sandy and Steve are getting married in their own home by the local minister.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I would have LOVED the FOrests around here, but not warm enough in Dec!! The local minister said anywhere, just ring one up and ask.....I had to get the licence organised from the registry at £60 and I am not religiouse enough for a church and I also did not want to look like Miss Haversham (Great Expectations) never know, maybe I will.....anyway, ring them up and ask!!!

A rather belated congratulations to you both!

I think the side of a hill idea sounds ideal - or perhaps in a goat shed? I can't imagine why any family members could possibly object to that  ;D

I'm not certain about where a registrar can marry someone, but I know a celebrant from the Humanism Society Scotland can marry people anywhere ... for example ... in a goat shed!

we are using a celebrant for our wedding next year so we can marry in the field with my horses.

I hope your horses are going to be bridesmaids and pageboys??  If I was to marry, my Odinn and Isaac would be my attendants I think, would save upsetting people by not asking them! hehe

Back to the original thread though!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Hope you have a wonderful married life, great stuff!
