We have had sheep for about 6 years now, but this year seem to be having a bad year for lambs dying. We had 6 born this year, all healthy and well, worked regularly etc. They were all weaned together. The only girl Lamb is with the adults and is thriving fine. The boys started off fine but one by one they seem to look miserable, eat less and then die. One died in August, we put that down to him breaking out and eating most of a compost heap! Another went in September, which we put down to random sheep stuff. However now a third one has done the same thing it’s starting to worry us. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

So you have only got two male lambs left? I would put them in the freezer asap if that was your eventual aim anyway. A PM on the one recently died is probably not giving you any answers, as the deaths were quite spaced out and as you said could have been due to anything. I would booster with another shot of Heptavac, give a mineral/vitamin drench and bring them inside onto hay and mix/concentrates.


What breed are they? And what is the condition of the remaining two lambs? Are they entire or wethered?

You can only go with your vets advice if not for now but for future years ,PM's,  FEC , Blood tests .  Hope you get to the bottom of it
