Straw / manure shredder
« on: May 12, 2020, 04:32:04 pm »
We have a smallholding including donkeys and goats that produce straw and manure.  Currently we pile it up, turn it regularly, and it rots down over time from then we can spread it on the veg patch.

We were wondering if we could speed up the process by shredding the straw, etc.  Does anyone know of a smallish machine that does this?  We've tried the internet, but most are enormous and impractical for us.

Thanks

A garden shredder?  I would not turn my muck heap too often as it delays composting.

That was my first thought also Buttermilk, but I do wonder whether a garden shredder would clog too easily.  I would say that the best smallish machine is a Besturner and a fork simply turning the piles over now and again! LOL
