Hallowe'en game ideas for children?
« on: October 31, 2010, 07:29:42 am »
My 4 (aged 3-8) and a neighbour (11) have decided they want to stay here rather than trawl the village knocking on doors tonight. They would like to go and climb up our hill and sit under the old walnut tree telling spooky stories.
I have a vague memory of a game that involves sticking hands in boxes filled with cold spaghetti etc and wondered if anyone knew the story that goes with it so that we can set it up for the girls?
or any other games?

We used to hang donuts or scones from a string that you had to take bites from.
The twist was that they were covered in treacle and you had to put your hands behind your back - mess ahoy  ;)

I turn into homer simpson when there's donuts in the house though - can imagine 5 already bitten donuts hanging up lol!!  sounds like a good game though, will add them to the list  :)

My boys always used to enjoy the doughnuts on a string.

Also apple bobbing.

And if you want lots of mess try putting smarties in a bowl of flour and they have to get them out with their mouths, with their hands behind their backs.   Faces covered in flour looking white like ghosts.

Read this post a bit late, but you can keep info for next year. We did this game last year, set up some boxes full of things that represent parts of the body, we used a carrot for fingers, spagehtti for intestines, grapes for eyeballs, you get the idea, the story we used was a bit gruesome but you can make it up as you go along, Old Bill was working in the wood shed, accidently fell into one of the machines, his friend Ted has to put him back together by guessing which parts are which, something along those lines anyway.

We also did a great game although does involve a lot of toilet roll!! Two teams, the fastest team to warp up thier chosen team member as a mummy wins, this produced lots of screaming and giggling, this year we did the first team to make a scarecrow, and the most entertainment came from my niece who made a pumkin pinyata, it took ages to break it (blindfolded of course)

Hope that is of use for next year :)
