Piglet weight
« on: December 13, 2007, 04:21:57 pm »
I am having a bit of a crisis today re weights of piglets.

I have been involved in this interesting topic on another site, and so far it seems that I am rearing miniture pigs!!

I would be greatful to learn what weights any of you have attained with your piglets of 8 - 9 weeks old. This would be relevant to larger pigs - Tammys, Saddleback, GOS that sort of size.

Thank you and please post!

I dont know the weights at that age, at 8-9 months I aim for 60 k dead weight, this imho provides better pork. The whole point of traditional outdoor reared pigs is to grow on slowly for meat/fat ratio and better flavour.  Its like children, if they get too heavy when young they make obese adults.  All fat no meat -no flavour.  (My opinion).
